Package Description License wanted by remark
Linux Vserver It allows you to run linux inside linux: Any distribution inside any distribution. Each virtual server has its own packages, its own services, its own users and is confined to using some IP numbers only and some area(s) of the file system. You can think of them as virtual machines. GPL Admin 1. Vservers are running on the same kernel as the host: Unlike other VM solutions, vservers don't require additional memory or processing power for the host.

2. There are no special daemons running: A vserver running crond, sshd, httpd and sendmail uses the same resources as a normal linux server running these services.

3. No pre-allocated disk space needed: Vservers generally share the disk space with the host, so there is no need to pre-allocate disk space for each vserver only to find out later that your disk is full, yet each vserver is only using of tiny portion of their allocated space.

4. Resource sharing: Since vservers can share binaries and libraries without interfering, a second vserver generally cost 40-100 megs of disk space only. Most of this space is a copy of the packaging database.

5. Independent updates: Vservers are updated independently even if they share binaries with other vservers.

6. 32-/64-bit independence: 32-bit distribution vservers run normally on a 64-bit linux host, but faster, sometime a lot.

7. Mix and match: You can mix various distributions on the same server all runing at once. http://www.solucorp.qc.ca for example is a rh7.3 vserver running on a rh7.3 server, alongside several FC3 vservers as well as Debian vservers on the same box (a Celeron with 500 MHz).

8. Admin tools work inside a vserver as usual.

9. A cracked vserver can't reach the host server: The host server may be used to safely investigate the cracked server (and fix it), something almost impossible with a typical linux installation.

AdvanceMAME/AdvanceMESS/AdvanceMENU Enhanced arcade and game console emulators for Linux with a front-end GPL Users These are the port of the MAME and MESS for Linux. It would be great to see it in Suse. They are with enhanced graphic support- blit effects, openGL.
Hercules Hercules mainframe emulator OSI COSS Development Hercules is an open source software implementation of the mainframe System/370 and ESA/390 architectures, in addition to the new 64-bit z/Architecture. Hercules runs under Linux, Windows (98, NT, 2000, and XP), and Mac OS X (10.3 and later).

Hercules is OSI Certified Open Source Software licensed under the terms of the Q Public Licence.

Hercules is used by developers and maintainers of Linux on zSeries. It is easier to get a PC with mainframe emulation than the real iron. It can also run the other OSs like OS/390, z/OS, VM/ESA, z/VM, VSE/ESA, z/VSE and others, but software licenses are needed. People can download and run Linux, OS/360, MVS 3.8j and others freely.

KDE GUI For QEMU NAME GPL Users KDE-Qemu is a GPL-ed KDE (QT3) front-end for QEMU. It provides a GUI interface for running PC emulation (similiar in intent to Virtual PC/VMWare). Written in Kommander, this also serves as a good example of RAD development under linux.

UAE Amiga Emulator GPL Any Amiga fan UAE is probably the most advanced Amiga emulator nowadays. The Packman archives already supply a package, but direct inclusion in SUSE would be better. The are no legal issues, as copyrighted material (ROM, OS) is not included. Thought there are legal (and cheap) sources for these files.
XMAME/XMESS MAME GPL Users This is the port of the arcade and console emulator for Linux. I would like to see them in Suse, because suse lacks this part of emulation. A very good front-end for xmame is GxMame

XMESS emulates around 20 consoles including NES/Nintendo entertainment system(Famicom) and SNES/Super Nintendo(Super Famicom) as well as Sega Mega Drive, Sega CD

GXMame GTK2 Frontend for XMame GPL Gamers GXMame is a frontend for XMame using the GTK library, the goal is to provide the same GUI than mame32.
ZSNES SNES emulator GPL Gamers This great emulator is easy to configure and should be included in Suse Linux.
