jpackage.org 1) To provide a coherent set of Java™ software packages for Linux, satisfying all quality requirements of other applications.
2) To establish an efficient and robust policy for Java™ software installation.
JPackage License Java™ Developers SUSE uses Jpackages since some time already. What exactly is missing?--A jaeger 14:33, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

JPackage installs directly from the jpackage.org website often do not work. Such as updates to jpackage-utils from the jpackage.org website. Granted there are problems with jpackage.org (e.g. broken packages, unfixed bugs, poor/none SUSE support). Therefore, I would like to see fixes for the jpackage packages, i.e. font support in the core jdk's. Especially since jpackage.org is very redhat centric. Personally I would like to see the equivelant (but better) support for Java in SUSE possibly using jpackage.org as a foundation for something much better. This is from the README.SUSE for jpackage-utils and it still applies: For now it is not possible to install packages from the JPackage web site on a SUSE 9.2 with all the java packages installed. RPM will report missing dependencies due to the missing Epoch tag in the packages provided by SUSE. (In fact, this is only an RPM issue, the packages should work together well as we changed as little as possible.) Our tools do not use the epoch tags, and it was considered safer to leave epochs out completely even if it breaks compatibility with packages from the JPackage web site in the short term. We are working on a better solution for 9.3, but we also believe that the intermediate solution is the best compromise to ensure a smooth transition to the JPackage standard. NetBeans NetBeans is one of the two leading OpenSource Java IDEs (the other being Eclipse, which SUSE includes). To avoid the appearance of endorsing one over the other, NetBeans should be included as well. Sun Public License Java Developers NetBeans 5.0 is part of the 10.1 ftp tree now--A jaeger 14:33, 11 February 2006 (UTC) ( formerly Bugzilla #63414)
