How can I install the applications from the Wine Rack CD?

Insert the CD, start the system assistant YaST, and go to "Software" -> "Change Source of Installation" -> "Add" -> "CD". Exit this module and open the YaST module "Install and Remove Software". Select the "Selections" filter at the top left. The Wine Rack software is listed in the frame to the left.

The welcome screen of CrossOver Office indicates that the software is a demo version. Why did I pay for this when the demo version can be downloaded free of charge from Codeweavers.

This information is misleading. This software is not the limited 30-day trial version that can be downloaded from Codeweavers. The Crossover Office version included in Wine Rack is the latest unlimited version with the full functionality range. The only thing that is not included is the support from Codeweavers. To get support, use the enclosed card to register with Codeweavers.

For what do I need the registration code printed on the Codeweavers inlay card? Do I need to enter it somewhere during the installation?

No, you do not need any code for installing and using CrossOver Office and CrossOver Plugin. The code merely serves authentication purposes if you want to register with Codeweavers to get support. For this purpose, send this card to the printed address.

Does WineX include a yearly subscription from Transgaming?

No. The package merely contains the latest version of WineX without a subscription and updates. To get updates, order a subscription from Transgaming. For more information, click the "Transgaming" tab in the "Point2Play" software to access a Transgaming contact page.

What will I get if I register with Transgaming and order a yearly subscription for US $60?

Your WineX will always be technically up to date and you will regularly receive patches and feature updates. Thus, you will allways have the latest version of WineX.

Where can I get support for CrossOver and WineX?

If you encounter problems with the installation of the CD or the software on the CD, you can get free installation support from SUSE. To get support for the CrossOver and WineX functionality, register with Codeweavers or Transgaming. Use the inlay card for Codeweavers and the link in the Point2Play software (the graphical interface of WineX) for Transgaming. However, the programs were tested thoroughly by SUSE, Codeweavers, and Transgaming and should normally work smoothly.

Can the CD be installed on SUSE LINUX 8.2 or older SUSE LINUX versions?

It may be possible to install the individual packages on SUSE LINUX 8.2. However, we have not tested if this works. The CD cannot be installed on older SUSE LINUX versions.

Can the CD be installed on SUSE LINUX 9.0 for AMD64?

In our tests, CrossOver and WineX worked smoothly on AMD64 computers. Theoretically, this means that all applications installed with CrossOver and WineX should also work smoothly. However, we have only tested the tools, not the Windows applications. Unfortunately, Marble Blast cannot be installed correctly on AMD64 systems.

Will it be possible to install the CD on the next SUSE LINUX version?

We endeavor to make this possible. However, due to the rapid development of core technologies, such as the kernel and glibc, we cannot guarantee that this will be possible.

Can other Windows software apart from the listed programs be installed?

Yes, but this is more or less a matter of chance. Only the supported software listed at the Codeweavers and Transgaming web sites are definitely known to work. However, the CrossOver Office and CrossOver Plugin menu lists many other applications, plug-ins, and Windows fonts that are normally not available in Linux.

How well do the different supported Windows applications work?

Depending on how well individual Windows applications work with CrossOver Office and CrossOver Plugin, Codeweavers rates the applications as "Gold", "Silver", and "Bronze". Here the rating of the most important applications:

Application Rating
MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint 97 gold
MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint 2000 gold
