SDB:Collecting Information on the Network Configuration

Situation
You would like to submit information on your network configration to SuSE Advanced Support Service.
Procedure
Plaease log in as root on a text console and switch to the tmp directory or proceed as follows:
- Start your Linux system.
- Log in as a user and start your desktop.
- In KDE, press the key combination ALT+F2.
- Enter "xterm" in the box.
- Click on "Execute".
- A new window will pop up; enter the command "su".
- Now enter the root password.
- Enter the command "cd /tmp".
Enter the following commands:
hwinfo --network_ctrl > info.txt
hwinfo --isapnp >> info.txt
lspci -v >> info.txt
grep eth /etc/modules.conf >> info.txt
ifconfig >> info.txt
route -n >> info.txt
cat /etc/route.conf >> info.txt
cat /etc/resolv.conf >> info.txt
grep "NET|IPADD|IFC|IP_F" /etc/rc.config >> info.txt
ipchains -Ln >> info.txt
iptables -Ln >> info.txt
In this way you have created the file /tmp/info.txt. If you use a different operating system for e-mails, you can copy this file with the following command on a DOS-formatted floppy disk:
mcopy /tmp/info.txt a:
You can check the floppy disk content through the command:
mdir a:
The file /tmp/info.txt contains the information on your network configuration. Please send the contents of this text file in ASCII format to support@suse.de. Do not use any encoded attachments! Please enclose your registration code. Wait for the confirmation that your e-mail has been received, then call the SuSE Advanced Support Service.
