SDB:Boot: - prompt does not appear during installation

Şuraya atla: kullan, ara

Version: 6.4

Symptom:

You want to install SuSE Linux from version 6.4 on, but the computer only shows the blue welcome screen, but not the boot: prompt. This behaviour does not change, if you use CD1, CD2 or the boot disk. The system locks up.

Cause:

At this time during boot hardware data are gathered by syslinux. Some BIOS versions do not allow this and the system will be halted.

Solution:

Please keep the shift key pressed during the boot process and it will work ;-)

By pressing the shift key the problematic part of the hardware detection is bypassed and the regular boot sequence is continued. <keyword>Installation,bootup,prompt,have,fun,boot,boot:,bootprompt</keyword>
