We know that SUSE already has a live DVD, but a CD would be nicer for LUGS and other places with low budget.

Making customised live CDs and DVDs

Is there a script that will generate a SuSE Live CD or DVD ? I would be specifically interested in being able to build a special kernel, and alter the inbuilt device support.

It's possible to build 'SuSE Live' as a screensaver for Microsoft Windows; you can download one here [1] , or you can follow the instructions in the IBM developerWorks article here [2] to build your own. A toy, to be sure, but some may find it useful.
