I am running suse 10.1 on a dell poweredge 4400. I am trying to get the 4400 to communicate via ethernet cable with a compaq presario 3240us (AMD64) laptop.

I've checked various sites and have found no reference to running suse 10.1 on a poweredge 4400 so if anyone was wondering how such a setup runs, it does pretty well (not great) but very well for such an old machine. The poweredge 4400 runs suprisingly well considering its running dual pentium III zeons running at only 800 Mhz. It does have about 1.6 gigabytes of memory installed however which may explain why it runs well.

I was told that it is relatively easy to network servers using linux. I have been quite impressed with suse 10.1, particularly the new Xgl 3D interface which i've got running on the laptop (good job Novell, Bill Gates and the Redmond ... may have rested on their larels too long).

Anyway, however, I sure could use some advice on how to get the two machines married by ethernet. Any advice would be helpful.
