Because SUSE Linux 10.1 release nears - and there are users who dislike changing OSes every half year (me included) - I believe there is a need to create a new project - called SUSE Legacy - for supporting older OSes (just like Fedora Legacy did).

On this page I will concentrate on supporting SUSE Linux 10.0 - describe it's problems and give solutions.

SUSE Linux & Stability: I have beta-tested SUSE Linux 10.0 - starting early - from BETA1 to the Final. In this 2-month period I have submitted over 40 bugs in bugzilla, but there are plenty remained.

What's worse - SUSE Linux 10.0 is supported very poorly - except for several security holes - no support is given. What is needed - is Service Packs. So now I feel like a fish on land. SUSE 10.1 almost released - and little support for 10.0.

The bugs in SUSE Linux 10.0:

1) GIMP-Help is missing - GIMP is very important component of any Linux system - but somehow it left out in the buggy form without any help.

Solution:

We've added it for the OSS goldmaster.

2) FireFox keeps crashing when opening PDF's - the bug turned out to be not in FireFox - but in one of it's plugins - dragonegg.

Solution:

Simply uninstall that and you're done.

To find out what other plugins you installed - use "about:plugins" in FireFox.

3) KDevelop creates PyQt simple application - but fails to execute it.

No Solution exists. Workaround: comment a line in the code that uses "documentdetails" library.

4) Quanta crashes when I try to edit text and use "bold" fonts.

No solution.
