SDB:Using LVM in the Rescue System

Symptom

You are not able to access your Logical Volumes in SUSE LINUX 9.1 rescue system.
vgchange delivers an error message saying that it could not read the device /dev/mapper/control.

Cause

The device mapper is not started by default in the rescue system.

Solution

Start the device mapper by executing the command: /etc/init.d/boot.device-mapper start <keyword>lvm,logical,volume,manager,device,mapper,rescue,system</keyword>
