SDB:Changing the Preinstalled SMP Kernel

Situation
Because of the deployed CPU, a precompiled kernel with SMP support has been installed on your system during the SUSE LINUX installation. Now you would like to switch to the standard kernel without SMP support.

Procedure
- Start the YaST Control Center and open Software -> Install and Remove Software.
- Select Package Groups in Filter in the upper left corner.
- Mark the following entries in the displayed drop-down menu:
- System
- Kernel
- Right-click kernel-smp and select Delete from the context menu.
- Confirm the displayed pop-up warning.
- Right-click kernel-default and select Install from the context menu.
- Confirm the displayed pop-up warning.
- Click Accept in the lower right corner and conclude the installation changes.
- Exit the YaST Control Center and restart (reboot) your system so the modified kernel can be loaded and become effective.
